What is FIRE AFRICA?

FIRE AFRICA is a missionary internship program that aims to provide a transformative 10-week internship designed to equip and empower individuals who aspire to serve in short or long-term missions. This program offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of global missions, and gain hands-on experience, potentially leading to full-time missions.

Objectives

Immersive Mission Experience: Participants will have the chance to live and work alongside experienced missionaries in Tanzania, gaining a firsthand understanding of cross-cultural ministry and the challenges and rewards of missionary life.

Spiritual Growth and Discipleship: The program places a strong emphasis on spiritual development and discipleship. Participants will engage in regular Bible studies, prayer, and worship, Deepening their faith and relationship with God.

Practical Ministry Experience: Interns will actively participate in various ministry activities, including evangelism, community outreach, youth and student missions, sports ministry, and humanitarian projects. They will be exposed to a wide range of mission opportunities.

Cultural Immersion: Living in Tanzania, participants will immerse themselves in the local culture, learning the language, customs, and traditions of the Tanzanian people. This cultural immersion is essential for effective cross-cultural ministry.

Mentorship and Training: Interns will receive mentorship and training from experienced missionaries and mission leaders. This includes practical skills training, mission strategy, and guidance on how to apply their experience to future missionary work.

Discerning God’s call: The program is a space for participants to discern their calling to full-time missionary service. Through reflection, evaluation, and guidance, interns can make informed decisions about their future involvement in missions.

Potential Path to Long-Term Missions: FIRE AFRICA is a stepping stone for those who wish to pursue long-term missionary work. Participants will have the opportunity to apply for long-term missionary roles within FIRE International upon completing the program.

Email us your interest, and we will send you a packet to apply. Straightforward information. Applicants must be 20 years or older to apply.

You will need letters of reference from your pastors/ministry leaders.

A background check will be required if accepted, required before you fly to Tanzania.

Research vaccines and prepare your health

Every intern will be responsible for their own medical decisions regarding vaccines. Please get advice from your doctor on what is best for you. Yellow fever was mandatory in the past, but this hasn't been for some years.

You should discuss all other vaccines with your healthcare provider.

Anti-malaria medicine may not be needed. Ask your doctor to check for you.

​

Start to include daily walking into your routine to prepare for your trip.

Costs

The Internship is broken into two payments (50 per cent due March 30th and remaining due 2 weeks prior to flying to Tanzania)and this price does not include your airline ticket. All interns must be in Tanzania by June 1, 2023. The airport code for Kilimanjaro is JRO and all this information is in your acceptance packet.

Total trip cost:

$7850.00

The trip costs cover:

  • 10 weeks of food and board.

  • Transportation within Tanzania.

  • Visa

  • Zanzibar Trip

  • Safari

  • Ministry-related needs.

(The interns will have an intern project that they will do and raise money together for, this is not included. This will be while in Tanzania).

  • Recommended $30 dollars a week spending money is not included.

Getting secure in our team

Once you are accepted, you will receive a packet of acceptance. We will help coach you along the process. You will need 50% of your trip cost by the first deadline (March 2023) and the purchase of your ticket to secure your place in our program. We are accepting 30-35 interns for our 2024 program.
